The Wall


Brief - Resurrect a fallen down Victorian garden wall which had eventually succumbed to years of crumbling foundations and weather weakened mortar.

Elements - Newly poured concrete foundations, recycled bricks and copings forming a 13m long, 1.8m high wall, modern expansion joints, buttresses for support.

Location - Pollokshields (The Original Garden Suburb), Glasgow.

Materials - 1m3 C20 strength concrete for foundations, 2000 hand cleaned, clay fired Victorian bricks, 20 bullnosed bricks for the supports, 2m3 of bricklayers mortar, 10mm polyethylene foam expansion joint with brown mastic covering, 20 salt glazed peaked copings, a lot of tea & biscuits.
